New Delhi: Congress chief Mr. Rahul Gandhi's surprise gesture to hug Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha after his speech during the no-confidence debate had Twitter abuzz. While Congress MP, Mr. Shashi Tharoor tweeted that the “unscripted hug that has literally taken the BJP’s breath away”, other tweets recalled “jadu ki jhappi” and described Mr. Gandhi as “Rahulbhai MBBS.” Another tweeter handle exclaimed- “Love’s in the air.”

RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav tweeted, “Oh that wink my friend! Hit them hard where it hurts. Congratulations for unearthing their mines of lies & a fantastic speech.”

Videos of wink of Mr. Gandhi was all over social media sites also juxtaposed with Prya Varrier the South Indian actress video. Handles belonging to the BJP were critical of Mr. Gandhi while the Congress handles were abuzz with the hashtag Rahul Hugs.

Rahul had already been a hot topic on the micro-blogging site Twitter with #bhookampaagayahai as one of the top trending topics since the morning and his wink took Twitter by storm as people took to the social media platform to tweet about it.

Several handles congratulated him while the others were critical.

Mr. Gandhi launched an aggressive attack on PM Modi and his government's policies. But no one expected his speech to end with a hug to the PM and then wink at a party colleague.

Mr Rahul called the promises and claims of the PM as “Joomla”, and added that the assurances which had won PM Modi elections in 2014 are still awaited and that the ground reality is far from what is being projected.
