Jaipur: While members of Parliament and other contestants from across the political spectrum are busy making the rounds in their respective constituencies ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, minister of state for law and justice P.P. Chaudhary seems to have truly followed the Digital India mantra of the Modi government.

Mr Chaudhary, a BJP contestant from the Pali Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan, has already reached out “digitally” to almost every voter in the constituency, courtesy of an app on his phone named Team NaMo.

The mobile app keeps record of developmental work at the panchayat level also keeps a tab on whether a potential Bharatiya Janata Party voter has exercised his right to franchise or not on the day of voting.

Armed with data on every booth in his constituency, Team NaMo gives the minister an option to call workers from any list of party post holders in his constituency.  It is learnt that the senior BJP leader has personally called each booth president and panna pramukh using the app’s database to ensure that campaign material (a calendar, booklet of development works and stickers) reaches every home.

Interestingly, Mr Chaudhary had earlier served as minister of electronics and information technology.

The app was designed to do away with the cumbersome task of having booth-wise voters list. The app provides details of every booth-level worker and in-charge along with voters list, which are be available at the touch of a finger.

The trial for the app was done during the recent Rajasthan Assembly polls by the minister’s team and is now being used in the parliamentary constituency extensively.

Sources stated that the app also provides a list of beneficiaries affected by the public welfare schemes of the Narendra Modi government. “We identify these beneficiaries and approach them. This list too comes in handy during campaigning,” sources added.
