A girl successfully fought with three armed dacoits and foiled their bid to loot her gold chain, purse and mobile phone on Sunday night. She even overpowered one of the three miscreants and handed him over to the police.

At around 9 pm, Chinmayi Bhuyan, was returning home on her scooter when three miscreants intercepted her. They snatched away her mobile phone, purse and gold chain and fled on their motorcycle.

Instead of losing courage, the girl chased them. The culprits then attacked her in a bid to escape. However, the girl utilised her martial art skills to defend herself. She even dealt serious blows to the three. While two of the miscreants fled the spot, Chinmayi managed to trap one with the help of locals. She also recovered the snatched items. “Without wasting even a second, I chased them. All along, they were threatening me of dire consequences if I continued to follow them. I knocked their bike down near Unit Two Market. Then, they pounced upon me with an intention to inflict serious blows and escape. I countered them with all my karate tricks and succeeded in repulsing their attack,” Chinmayi said.

Sources said the Bhubaneswar commissionerate police, which praised the girl for her valour, has decided to felicitate her in a special function.
