The National Investigation Agency will probe the terror attack at an Army installation in Langate in Kupwara region on Thursday in which three militants were killed by the security forces. The NIA on Friday registered a case in connection with the incident and will now investigate the entire conspiracy behind the incident.

A team of senior officers from NIA visited the spot on Friday to collect all the relevant evidence including bodies of the three militants. NIA is also investigating the attack on an Army camp in Uri on September 18. Sources said NIA will take DNA samples on the three militants who were killed by alert Army personnel following a five-hour long encounter.

The NIA team has already taken into custody other evidence like three Global Positioning System (GPS) sets, map, matrix sheets which are used for sending coded messages and three smart phones recovered from the killed terrorists. The evidence will now be sent for a detailed forensic examination to retrieve data that would help in putting together the entire conspiracy.

Apart from this Army has also handed over to the NIA investigating team three AK rifles, three under barrel grenade launchers, a number of magazines, significant rounds of bullets, four walkie-talkie sets, dry fruits and medicines with Pakistani markings.

“All three were Pakistani terrorists and had infiltrated across the border,” a senior NIA official said.
