Hyderabad: On Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s proposed indefinite hunger strike in Delhi from Monday, Jagan Mohan Reddy said Naidu should spell out his stand on state’s division first. Naidu must write a letter to the Centre saying that he stands for a united AP. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that if Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is sincere about his support for a unified state why did he not convene the Assembly and pass a resolution opposing the state’s division and in support of united Andhra Pradesh Had Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned his post, the whole nation would have sat up and taken it seriously and the bifurcation would not have happened. Jagan Mohan Reddy also criticised the BJP’s attitude to the state division issue. He said the BJP should also take a call and stand up for a unified state. Jagan starts fast, criticises Sonia S.N.C.N. Acharyulu | DC YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy says he will challenge the Union Cabinet’s decision on the division of the state in the Supreme Court. Jagan Mohan Reddy began an indefinite hunger strike at his residence on Saturday, protesting the Centre’s decision to divide the state in order to create the state of Telangana. Speaking to the media at Deeksha Camp, Jagan Mohan alleged that AICC president Sonia Gandhi wanted to make her son Rahul Gandhi the prime minister and has divided the state in order to get more votes and seats. “Sonia Gandhi is responsible for the crisis in the state and she has been playing with the sentiments of the people with the singular motive of seeing to it that her son Rahul Gandhi is made prime minister,” Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged. He has demanded that Gandhi revoke the decision immediately. The YSRC chief also spoke about the legal problems involved in the state’s division and wondered how the Centre could find solutions to these in six weeks. Jagan Mohan Reddy said he is opposing the unilateral manner in which the Centre is functioning. How can it go ahead with the bifurcation process without a resolution in the state Assembly, he asked. “We know what happened to the Ordinance on protecting convicted legislators after AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi intervened. He can do a similar thing on the issue of Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcati-on,” Mr Jagan Moh-an Reddy suggested. YSRC leaders, under the leadership of the honorary president of the party Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, will leave for Delhi on Monday. They will meet the President of India and submit a memorandum requesting that the state not be divided. They will also meet national political leaders and ask them not to support the Telangana Bill when it comes before Parliament.
