Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday, warned party leaders and workers that if the official candidates lost the elections of the UP Legislative Council through the local bodies, the party workers would be shown the door from the party.

Mr Yadav, who reached the Samajwadi Party office here unannounced on Monday, saw a large number of party workers and leaders sitting there.

“If you all are going to sit here, who will help our candidates win the elections ” he asked two former ministers — Narad Rai and Ambica Chaudhary — who were present there. Both had been dropped from the council of ministers in October last year.

He said that it was mainly because of the ministers that we lost the Lok Sabha elections.

“They do not want to remain with the people in the constituency. He (Ambica Chaudhary) called the youth a ‘goonda’ and as a result, he lost his own Assembly seat. The Akhilesh government has done excellently but these people do not want to spread the message among the people. The Samajwadi Party has become a party of dumb people,” he said angrily.

Continuing to lash the party leaders, the SP president said that leaders like these are responsible for the rout in the Lok Sabha elections. “Only five people from my family won the elections. If we had won 35 to 40 seats, then we would have been in the government. We analysed the results and found that we lost due to ministers and legislators because they were busy making money”, he stated.
