Just a day after the Uri attack, the Congress has started training guns on Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Just a day after the Uri attack, the Congress has started training guns on Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress communications chief Randeep Surjewala blamed the Prime Minister for being “singularly responsible for the complete disarray” in the government’s policy on Pakistan.

Mr Surjewala also dared the PM to act against defence minister Manohar Parrikar for “a massive intelligence and operational failure”.

The Congress has raised the heat on the government with regard to Pakistan. It claims that the Prime Minister and the government has always kept the country in the dark regarding its dealings with Pakistan.

The Congress says that at different points in time they had asked questions to the PM but he never responds. The issue of Pakistan has been resonating in both the Houses of Parliament. Questions will be raised in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament too. The Congress has sought the PM’s response.

“There have been over 900 border ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. India has borne the brunt of unchecked terrorist attacks coming from Pakistan in Udhampur, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Pampore leading to heavy casualties of Army and police, including senior most officers,” he added.

With voices, including from within the BJP, calling for retaliatory action against Pakistan over the attack, Union law and IT minister Ravishankar Prasad said, “Our relationship with Pakistan will not be same again. Our patience is running out. There is a limit to patience. The government will consider strategic and diplomatic options and take a decision,” he said.

Another Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi described Pakistan as a “factory of terrorism”.
