Man held in TN reveals recce in plot to kill Modi

A chilling revelation during the interrogation of “Police” Fakruddin, caught in Chennai Friday, was that he did an assassination recce in Gujarat on CM Narendra Modi, now the BJP’s PM candidate. Fakruddin was taken to Gujarat by Abubakar Siddique, a wanted criminal who carries a bounty of `5 lakhs. A police source quoted him saying he couldn’t execute his plan in Gujarat. Fakruddin is accused of planting a pipe bomb on BJP leader L.K. Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra route in 2011 near Madurai, triggering a blast in the Bengaluru BJP office in April and the murders of BJP leader Ramesh in Salem and Hindu Munnani’s Vellaiyappan in Vellore. Asked if he tried to create trouble at the Tiruchy youth meet which Mr Modi attended, he denied it.
