A man chopped off his fingers as thanksgiving to a local deity after Nitish Kumar took oath as chief minister on Friday. Anil Sharma, an avid supporter of Nitish Kumar feels he is the only leader in Bihar who can bring “development with justice” in the state and had been seeking divine blessings for the success of Mr Kumar in Assembly polls. Anil Kumar, popularly known as Ali Baba in Kako and Vena villages of Jehanabad district, said he and other local villagers had full faith in the local deity Goriya Baba and this is the third time he offered his finger as a thanks giving. “He has full faith in the local deity and he had pledged to chop off fingers if Nitish Kumar returned to power”, a local said. Anil Kumar who had gone to Patna to greet and congratulate the chief minister on Friday had to return without meeting him as there was a long queue of visitors waiting outside his official residence to greet him and congratulate him. Anil Kumar when asked about this said, “I am happy and this is how I show my happiness and give thanks to my deity for listening to my prayers”.
