With no clinching evidence against him, former lokayukta Justice Y. Bhaskar Rao is likely to be not considered as an accused in the extortion scam that was allegedly run by his son Ashwin Yerabati.

With no clinching evidence against him, former lokayukta Justice Y. Bhaskar Rao is likely to be not considered as an accused in the extortion scam that was allegedly run by his son Ashwin Yerabati.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the case, is set to file additional chargesheets in connection with the five FIRs registered in connection with the scam.

Official sources said the SIT has not found any crucial evidence against Justice Rao and thus he could not be considered as an accused in the case.

“There is nothing we can substantiate, if we name him as an accused in the chargesheet. If something concrete emerges during the course of further investigation, then we can book him under appropriate charges,” an official said.

The additional chargesheets are under scrutiny by legal experts and will be submitted to the court in a few days.
