IAS officer sets ‘record of transfers’

Amit Gupta, presently posted as special secretary in the chief minister’s office, has made it to the Limca Book of Records for getting posted as DM in 14 districts within a span of nine years. Mr Gupta, a 2000-batch officer, was first posted as DM of Hamirpur in 2005. Thereafter, he faced frequent transfers and mostly got posted as district magistrate. His shortest span as DM was in Lalitpur, where he was posted for barely eight days and the longest was in Badaun where he was posted for over two years. The other districts where he was DM are Etawah, Kannauj, Firozabad, Pratapgarh, Shravasti, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Jalaun, Rae Bareli, Firozabad, Maharajganj and Pilibhit.

A B-tech in electrical engineering and a resident of Gwalior, Amit Gupta is known for his ability to combine technology with administration.
