Harmony award for Khamliana, Bari

Prestigious National Communal Harmony Award for 2011 in the individual category will be given to Khamliana from Mizoram and Mohammed Abdul Bari of Orissa jointly.

A jury headed by vice-president Hamid Ansari selected the two person for the award for promoting communal harmony and national integration.
The award, instituted in 1996 by the ministry of home affairs, carries a cash prize of `2 lakh and a citation. Khamliana, 56, is the founder president of the 22-year-old Mizoram Youth Club, a voluntary organisation.
Mr Bari, 72, from Bhadrak district in Orissa has been associated with eight social organisations.
