Calling it a relief, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday welcomed a CBI special court's ruling dismissing a plea to make Home Minister P. Chidambaram an accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

"I welcome the judgment," Mukherjee told reporters.

"Of course, it is a good judgment. It is a good judgment and it is a relief because unnecessarily somebody was persecuted," Mukherjee said after Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini dismissed Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea against Chidambaram, a former finance minister.

He said even in the judgment of the Supreme Court it was mentioned that the advice of the finance ministry was not heard by then communications minister A. Raja in 2G spetrucm allocation.

"The finance minister was not listened to," Mukherjee said.
