Drunk cab drivers rape, murder 12-year-old in Kolkata; arrested

The girl was reportedly from a poor family and lived on a pavement in the city.

Kolkata: The police on Wednesday arrested two cab drivers for allegedly raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl in the Park Circus area of Kolkata.

According to reports, the two drivers, one of whom worked for Ola cabs, were drunk at the time of the crime and had picked up the girl from the streets of Central Kolkata, early Wednesday morning.

The two men sexually assaulted the child on the Park Circus flyover and then proceeded to murder her. They threw the body off a bridge to cover their tracks but the corpse was recovered by the police.

The girl was reportedly from a poor family and lived on a pavement in the city.
