UP DGP Javeed Ahmad has denied media reports that the DNA profile of a teenage girl who was found raped and murdered near the chief minister’s residence two months ago has shown the DNA of 21 men.

UP DGP Javeed Ahmad has denied media reports that the DNA profile of a teenage girl who was found raped and murdered near the chief minister’s residence two months ago has shown the DNA of 21 men.

Talking to this correspondent on Monday, Mr Ahmad said that no such report had been received by the police and the accused — two rickshaw pullers and two caddies — had already been arrested.

Forensic experts, however, stand by their report. “We have given the report and we have no idea why the police is denying it”, said a forensic expert on Monday.

The report was published in four local newspapers in Lucknow and also on a news portal.

The police, however, have failed to explain the sequence of events that led to the rape and murder. The post-mortem report said that the girl had died of excessive bleeding but the spot from where the body was recovered did not have any traces of blood. This means that the girl was raped and murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped at the spot from where it was later recovered.

The two caddies and rickshaw pullers had confessed before the media that they had seen the body hanging from a tree and had brought it down and raped the corpse for two days till it began decomposing.

The Lucknow police, however, have no answer for the main question — who first kidnapped, raped and murdered the girl

Moreover, the police have failed to recover the girl’s cycle and school bag and neither do they have an explanation for the presence of the girl in the Park Road area which is more than ten kilometres away from where she lives and a similar distance from her school.

It may be recalled that since the beginning of investigations, the police have been wary of revealing all the details to the media and have refused to answer relevant questions related to the case.
