An alleged gangrape victim committed suicide late on Thursday night by hanging herself in her house at Supela under Durg district, nearly 70 km from here, for being “denied justice”, the police said on Friday. The deceased had earlier moved the court seeking justice when the local police failed to arrest the alleged rapists — doctor of a local hospital, Gautam Pandit, and two police constables, Chandraprakash Pandya and Sourav Bhakta — even six months after the incident. “A suicide note has been recovered in the house of the deceased. The victim has held the doctor and two policemen responsible for her taking the extreme step,” local city superintendent of police Narendra Sharma said. According to the case diary, the 21-year-old girl had gone to the local hospital for treatment on June 19, 2014, where she allegedly gangraped by the doctor and the two police constables.

She was threatened and later allegedly repeatedly raped for six months by the three accused by blackmailing her. The alleged victim had later gathered courage and moved the court in January 2015, seeking justice.
