Man arrested for raping daughter Bengaluru: The Peenya police claims to have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping his 17-year-old minor daughter for the last four months. The police have identified the accused as Pintu Singh, a resident of Hesaraghatta Cross on Tumkur Road and a native of Bihar. Singh, a labour contractor, was supplying labourers to construction sites and other places. He has been staying in the city for the last eight years. Singh, who has two wives, had left his first wife in Bihar and was staying with his second one in the city.Four months ago, he had gone to meet his first wife and returned with his daughter ostensibly to provide her college education. Instead of sending her to college, he made her stay at home and allegedly started raping her. The accused is said to have had two apartments, both near the Tumkur Main Road. He used to take his daughter to one of the vacant apartments to rape her. The victim with the help of her neighbours informed the matter to the police control room, who alerted the jurisdictional Peenya police to look into the matter. After questioning and recording the statements of the victim, her father was arrested. While the statement was being recorded, her father was away in Bihar and was arrested on Tuesday on his return. Both the accused and the victim have been subjected to medical tests at a nearby hospital, the police added.DCP (North) Sandeep Patil told media persons that the victim has claimed that she had been raped three times in the last four months by her father. After the incident came to light, Peenya police was directed to investigate.The Peenya police have registered a case of rape and have sent the victim to a rehabilitation centre in Madivala. Krishnappa, on Sunday, went to collect the rent from his tenant Padma, 53, at Shankarnagar. But Padma, an alcoholic, is suspected to have abused Krishnappa. A fight ensued, and Krishnappa in a fit of rage, hit her head with a wooden plank and left. Padma was taken to a hospital by her daughter where the doctors administered three stitches on her head. But soon after coming home, she started drinking and also allegedly stopped taking prescribed medicines, the police said. She died on Tuesday evening. In the first case, Fathima, 4, of Eravipuram was admitted to SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and later taken to Government Eye Hospital as she was diagnosed with internal bleeding in her left eye. According to police, the child was beaten up by her father Sanofer, 27, who has been living in a rented hou se along with his wife Su bainath and their daughter. Fathima is a UKG student of Kavalppura Government LPS, Pallimukku. She had marks of torture all over her face and her back. The child was fir st admitted to Victoria Hos pital in Kollam before being referred to SAT Hospital. Sanofer, who works as a salesman in a provisional store in Pallimukku, has been taken into custody by Eravipuram Police. He den ied any act of torture, but said he had beaten the child only on her legs for not stu dying, according to Police. In a similar incident, Eru mely police registered a case against a woman for physically torturing a two-and-a-half-year-old girl at their ho use on Wednesday. Aneesha Mol, daughter of Satheesh and Biji of Vatt akkunnel house near Erum ely, was physically tortured by Satheesh’s younger bro ther’s wife Rachana owing to a dispute over assets in their family. “The child has bruises on her back as she was dragged through rough surface in front of her house. The inj u ries are minor,” Erumely SI, Jayaprakash said. The child was admitted to Kan jira pally general hospital. The victim, Balasubramani, a resident of Ullagram had drawn gold from a private bank in Camp Road and was returning home with his wife, Uma Maheswari in a bike, when a powdery substance was thrown on him. As he started feeling uncomfortable with an itching sensation, he had got off the bike and nearby residents poured water over him. Later he realised that the seven sovereigns of gold kept in a bag below the seat in his two-wheeler was stolen. Based on a complaint by Uma Maheswari, Selayur Police have registered a case and are investigating. Next: Woman held with two passports Woman held with two passports Chennai: Immigration officials on Wednesday arrested a 36-year-old woman at Chennai airport for travelling with two passports. The woman, identified as Kamalaveni, a native of Amapettai in Salem, was returning from Canada, when the officials held her. Earlier, the airport authorities had got information from her first husband, Khaleel Ahmed, about her being in possession of two passports. Investigations revealed that the woman had married Khaleel Ahmed few years back and had changed her name to Fathima and got a passport in the name. Later, when the two got separated, the woman had entered into a relationship with Prem Kumar, a Sri Lankan national, living in Salem at that time, sources said. After Prem had left for Canada, the woman went back to her maiden name, Kamalaveni, and got a new passport and travelled to Canada to meet her boyfriend. When she was returning from Canada on Wednesday, the airport police checked and found her to be in possession of two passports. They arrested the woman and after investigations, the woman was sent to Puzhal prison. According to immigration rules, if a person is in possession of two passports that is a punishable crime, said an official. Hawala money worth Rs 30L seized Hawala money worth Rs 30L seized Chennai: The railway police on Tuesday night arrested a 47-year-old man for carrying hawala money worth Rs 30 lakh at Central railway station. The seizure was made during a routine check through metal detectors from the bag of Syed Ahmed, a native of Keezhakarai, in Ramana thapuram. Railway Police with the cash recovered from the accused, Syed Ahmed. Hawala cash worth Rs 30 lakh was recovered from the accused, when he tried to deliver the money to another person in Palakkad. RPF personnel on duty, who held him under suspicion, seized the bag and recovered the money. Investigations revealed that he had got the money from his friend Salim, the police said. The police quoted Syed as saying that he had come to Chennai two days back in search of a job and had approached his friend Salim, who promised him Rs 2,000 if he delivered a parcel at Palakkad. As planned, the accused had met Syed and his friend near Mannadi and he was given a parcel to be delivered to an unidentified person in Palakkad and given a train ticket. The police have recovered over one kilogram of gold ornaments worth nearly 32 lakhs from her. The police have identified the accused as Salma, wife of Fayaz, residing at Nagarbhavi II stage. She was working in the residence of Ananth, the RBI staffer. The theft was committed on Monday and the owner suspected the involvement of the maid. Salma who was interrogated is said to have confessed for having stolen the gold from her employer’s house. Even after the theft, she pretended innocent and worked in the house. The accused had hidden the gold ornaments in a television box in her house which was recovered the next day, the police added. Further investigations are on.
