Court dismisses Swamy’s plea against Chidambaram

A trial court here on Saturday dismissed Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea to make Home Minister P. Chidambaram a co-accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

"Your prayer to summon Chidambaram as an accused is dismissed," Special Judge O.P. Saini said on Swamy's petition reading out from his much-awaited judgement.

The court said it will commence the hearing on the complaint filed by Mr Swamy in which he had made further allegations against former communications minister A. Raja without making Mr Chidambaram an accused from March 17.

Reacting to the verdict, Mr Swamy said he was "surprised" by the court's decision, but would now appeal against the decision in the high court.
