The Congress has decided to contest the Goa Assembly elections on its own without any alliance with other political outfits, party General Secretary Digvijay Singh has said.

"We have decided to contest all the 40 constituencies on our own. There is no proposal for any alliance with any party in Goa," Singh told reporters last evening in Margao town. The elections for the next Assembly in Goa are due in March 2017.

Singh, however, said that even if the party thinks of aligning with anyone in near future, it will take all the district and block workers into confidence.

He said Congress is currently busy listing failures of the BJP-led Goa government."I will hold talks with district and block-level workers for next two days and frame the chargesheet," he said.

The senior Congress leader criticised the Goa government for its "failure" to shift off shore casino vessels outside Mandovi river (in Panaji), absence of employment opportunities.

Congress will also highlight BJP's "action of closing down the mining industry," Singh added.
