The men informed doctors that they did not have enough money to carry the body to another hospital, but were denied assistance.

Patna: When, Dana Majhi, the tribal man from Odisha was forced to carry his wife's body for over 10 kilometres on his shoulders last month, due to lack of an ambulance, his plight drew the world’s attention. And now, a similar tragic story has emerged from Bihar, where three people had to carry the corpse of their relative in a plastic bag, because they could not get an ambulance.

According to reports, the deceased had died from drowning in the river Ganga about 14 days ago and the body was taken to a hospital in Katihar for an autopsy. But the doctors in the hospital told the deceased’s relatives to take the decomposing body to another hospital in Bhagalpur, after keeping it in their premises for 24-hours.

The distressed relatives told the hospital authorities that they did not have the means to take body to Bhagalpur and pleaded for help but were denied from being given an ambulance.

Left with no choice, the men had to wrap the corpse of their loved one in a plastic bag and carry it to another hospital. The men included the deceased's grandfather, who had pleaded with the hospital authorities to help them with their situation to no avail.
