As Gaya observed a bandh in protest against the kil-ling of teenager Aditya Sachdeva, allegedly by the son of a JD(U) MLC, hundreds of angry protesters, backed by the BJP, took to the streets in the city on Monday to demand swift action against JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi’s son Rocky Yadav.

The Opposition said ever since Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar joined hands with Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav, most of the JD(U) and RJD workers are behaving with impunity. “With Lalu Yadav supporting the government one cannot expect better law and order. People are being killed mercilessly on the streets and, in most cases, people associated directly or indirectly with the ruling party are involved.”

However, the CM, reacting sharply to the BJP’s allegations said in all cases people involved in criminal activities would not be spared. The law will take its own course, stray cases cannot indicate collapse of law and order, he said.

“Take the figures of other states and compare it with Bihar, you will know the truth. Look for yourself what is happening in other states, in Bihar rule of law prevails. In this case an SIT has been constituted and nobody will be spared, no matter who the person is,” Mr Nitish Kumar told reporters in Patna.

Meanwhile, the Gaya court on Monday remanded Rocky’s father and bodyguard in judicial custody for 14 days. The police claimed that Bindi Yadav was arrested for trying to help Rocky escape from the crime scene after the incident.

“We have information that his father Bindi Yadav is trying to help Rocky,” a police official from Gaya told this newspaper on Monday, claiming that regular raids were being carried out to nab Rocky Yadav.

The incident occurred late Saturday evening when Rocky Yadav allegedly killed Aditya Sachdeva, the teenaged son of a prominent Gaya businessman, for overtaking his car in Gaya.
