New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat for making good use of technology to mitigate the drought situation in their states while addressing the nation through his radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

Elaborating on the drought situation in many parts of the country, Modi said he had decided to meet all chief ministers of states individually to discuss future course of action, instead of calling a meeting of all CMs. He lauded the states on the step they have undertaken to mitigate drought and made a special mention of Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat for their efforts.

The Prime Minister stressed that the need of the hour was to conserve water and he asked all citizens to pledge the same.

"I appeal upon citizens to pledge to not waste water in June, July, August, September this year. We feel refreshed splashing water on our faces when we feel tired, this is such a precious gift of god," Modi said.

It was a historic win for BJP in the recently concluded Assembly elections in Assam and the party has never been in power in the state before.
