Bhopal: In the first officially recorded case of triple talaq after the Supreme Court declared the practice of instant divorce by Muslim men unconstitutional, a woman of the minority community, an alleged victim of the system, has approached the police here to save her marriage.

The police sent her to the Gaurabi one-stop crisis Centre, set up here to resolve such issues, to settle her problem with her husband amicable and save her marriage, an official of the organisation said on Tuesday. According to the Centre coordinator, Shivani Saini, the alleged triple talaq victim, sought reunion with her husband, Afzal, who pronounced triple talaq “in a fit of anger” for providing him black tea, instead of normal milk tea, on Monday.

The woman prepared black tea for her husband after reportedly being denied money by him to purchase milk. Afzal was furious over being served black tea and reportedly pronounced triple talaq. He then asked his wife to leave house forcing her to approach the local woman police to lodge a complaint against him for deserting him.
