Red roses from road safety drive stir domestic quarrel for one recipient.
Lucknow: A simple red rose that is a symbol of love, can also cause domestic trouble.
As a part of its road safety campaign, the Lucknow traffic police decided to gift a rose to all two-wheelers drivers who were wearing helmets. The rose was in appreciation of their decision to follow traffic rules and wear helmets.
However, one such recipient of a rose — a red one, at that — face a storm at home. When he reached home with a rose, his wife refused to believe that the traffic cops had given the flower to her husband and insisted that he was having an extra marital affair.
The couple had a massive fight but the husband failed to convince her that the flower was from the cops.
The next day, the harassed husband went to the same traffic crossing and tracked down the traffic sub-inspector Prem Shankar Sahni who had given him the rose and narrated his ordeal.
The traffic sub inspector, who had taken selfies with all those whom he had given flowers, browsed his mobile phone and found the photo and gave it to the man to show to his wife so that the dispute could finally be resolved. The cops have now decided not to hand out red roses.
“We will give flowers of every colour but red because we do not want couples to fight”, the bemused inspector said.
