Bhopal: Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh whose properties, both moveable and immoveable, have almost doubled in last five years to an estimated Rs 10.72 crore now, has added only a plot of land measuring 2,670 sq ft during the period.

According to the properties’ list disclosed by him in an affidavit filed along with nomination form for Rajanandgaon Assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh, his immo-veable properties which were worth Rs 3,33,55000 in 2013 has increased to Rs 6.41 crore.

Escalation of cost of lands owned by him has led to increase in value of his immoveable properties, sources close to him said on Wednesday.

Similarly, his moveable properties have increased from Rs 2,28,15000 in 2013 to Rs 4.31 crore in 2018.

The increase in the immoveable properties during the period were due to interests gained from bank deposits, his salary and allowances (as chief minister) and revenues earned from agriculture, a close aide of him explained.

Mr Singh is pitted in a triangular contest in Rajnandgaon Assembly constituency against Congress candidate Karuna Shukla and Janata Congress Chhattisgarh candidate Deepak Yadav.

Ms Shukla is niece of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mr Yadav is currently a ward member of Rajnandgaon municipality corporation.

Rajnandgaon along with 17 other assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh is going to polls in the first phase of elections in the state on November 12.

The rest 72 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh are scheduled to go to polls in the second and final phase of elections in the state on November 12.
