Bhubaneswar: Hours after pictures of the interior of the Puri Srimandir were uploaded on social media by police sub-inspector Dilip Panda, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi suspended him on Monday.

As per reports, the pictures of the temple premises were found posted on a Facebook post on Monday, thereby raising concerns over security measures at the 12th-century shrine.

The pictures of the temple were uploaded on the Facebook account of Mr Panda, the sub-inspector of Seabeach police station in Puri.

As per reports, the photographs were taken at the “Baishipahacha” when Mr Panda was offering “shradha” on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya. Some of the photographs were also taken inside the temple premises.

Follow-ing the incident, the act of Mr Panda has drawn criticism from different quarters of the society.

Clicking interior parts of Jagannath temple is banned by the administration. In the past, many temple servitors had drawn flak for uploading the photographs of the interior parts of the structure.
