Bhopal: Ruling BJP MLA from Satna in Madhya Pradesh Shankarlal Tiwari was on Tuesday arrested in connection with a 22-year-old case.

Satna police arrested him on charges of assaulting cops while staging demonstration in a local police station on September 21, 1996.

Interestingly, he was declared absconding during the period. He along with 28 others was named in the chargesheet filed in connection with the incident then.

Eight of them were earlier acquitted by the court. But, police had declared him along with 20 others as absconding.
