Srinagar: A teacher of a religious seminary has been arrested from north Kashmir's Baramulla district for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy, police said in Srinagar on Sunday.

"A written complaint was received at Kreeri police station on January 28 from a student (a minor boy) of Madrassa Darul-Hudda, accompanied by his father, to the effect that on December 20, a teacher of the seminary, a resident of Baramulla, had sexually assaulted him," a police spokesman said.

According to the complainant, the teacher called him to his room after morning prayers and sexually assaulted him while other students were taking lessons.

He said police registered a case under Section 377/506 of the RPC and investigation was taken up.
