Jennifer Lawrence turns director

The actress to direct a film titled Project Delirium, the star-cast has not been finalised yet

Jennifer Lawr-ence has signed on to direct her first feature film Project Delirium, about a secret Cold War military experiment.

“I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act. I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it,” she said in an interview with EW.

The movie, which is in the early stages of development, is based on a December 2012 story in New Yorker magazine.

“It’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong,” she said.

The article titled Project Delirium detailed how the U.S. military conducted tests on service personnel to explore the effects of drugs like LSD on the brain as part of chemical warfare research.

She didn’t elaborate on who she’d like to star in her film but explained she has been impatiently biding her time for the right opportunity to go behind the camera.

“It’s funny. I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that,” she told EW. “If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready,” she said.

The Oscar-winning actress, who’s co-writing a screenplay with comedienne Amy Schumer, said she’d also like to direct a comedy.
