New edge manicure

Natural nails with white tips date all the way back to the 1800s, when women would use a bit of lemon juice or vinegar to brighten just the tips to a crisp white. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that the term “French manicure” was born. Of course, the white tip is the most well-known and a well-worn nail design when it comes to French manicures. But that doesn’t mean that that’s the only way to wear it. There are countless options to place a twist on the classic.

Paint a slightly wobbly horizontal line across the top. This look keeps the clean and stylish feel of the classic French manicure, but the unusual line at the tip gives it a needed breath of artistry.

Get creative and colourful, and add a line of silver, black or turquoise along the tip. In fact, the colour should be as unexpected as possible. Go for a faded ombre or a more abstract divide made with Mylar or other embellishments for a futuristic look. Or, reverse the entire look and use a coloured base. While we love a good nude polish, sometimes Fall calls out for more fun shades.

Stay with white tips if you find it more attractive but add a thin line of silver or gold glitter where the tip ends to give your nails a subtle yet sophisticated look.
