Hyderabad-based designer Gaurang Shah mesmerised the audience on day four of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016, with his collection of hand-woven festive outfits.

Celebrating the stories of Lord Krishna, the Gopis and Radha, Gaurang’s collection was titled Vrindavan, which was inspired by the enchanted garden. The textile designer explained that it was a wonderful coincidence that his designs coincided with Janmashtami. The collection featured a grading in outfits from whites to yellows, lime green, to light and then dark blues. Gaurang also unveiled his collection of men’s wear range, inspired by the Braj-Bhoomi. It featured bold patterns and colours, with Khadi Jamdani achkans, Kanjeevaram kurtas, Banarasi sherwanis and Paithani dhotis dotted the ramp. Mugdha Godse, decked in an ivory and gold lehenga and a green choli with printed dupatta walked down as showstopper, as did the Gaurang-favourite Carol Gracias, for the first time after becoming a mother. The supermodel had made heads turn when she walked the ramp, sporting a baby bump for Gaurang back in April, and the designer joked that he’d make Carol walk the ramp even when she became a grandmother.
