Texas singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves’s upcoming album Golden Hour is worth listening to.   Her team has come up with an interesting strategy – to trick out the  lyrics and vocals with bits of outside genres, hence resulting in nudging her sound towards mainstream pop while retaining that homegrown charm which made Kacey a sensation. 

Alexis Taylor, Beautiful Thing (April 20

Alexis Taylor, the front man of the popular Hot Chip, is pegged as an artiste with one of the most compelling voices in industry. But, Sharp-eared listeners would’ve notice that Taylor now seems to be grappling with the very act of creation. For much of this album, he interrogates empty slogans, finds nothing to say, and gives up. Taylor’s been in the game for a long time now — it only makes sense that he’d make an album that puzzles over how to keep going.

Twin Shadow, Caer

Grand Theft Auto radio host George Lewis is musically versatile, the three albums he’s recorded as Twin Shadow is what brought him into limelight. Tracks like  Forget, Confess, and Eclipse cemented Lew’s position as synth pop’s  bad boy. with the forthcoming Caer, listeners will get to see whether he’s turned to a new leaf and whether he’s finished trying to pivot to pop or not.
