The claims are false, says Ryan Phillippe

After ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt had filed a $1 million lawsuit against Ryan Phillippe claiming assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the actor has responded.

“As a staunch advocate for the health, well-being and equality of women, Ryan is completely devastated that these false allegations have been made and circulated. Domestic violence is an incredibly serious issue and fabricated and proven false claims should not be used to unjustly slander the falsely accused. The claims are false,” a representative for the actor told E! News.

However, Hewitt’s attorney says that the claim that he didn’t assault her is laughable.
