Before Ayushmann Khurrana captured the audiences with his charming smile in his debut Vicky Donor, he was a radio jockey and also a singer with a few music albums to his credit. However, recording in a studio is quite different from singing in the trains, right?

Recently, Ayushmann took his fans down the memory lane when he said that he used to sing in the trains to make a quick buck. During the launch of a number from his upcoming film Meri Pyaari Bindu, which stars Parineeti Chopra opposite Ayushmann, the actor recalls the incident, “Once on a Delhi-bound train, my friends and I decided to sing to earn some quick money since we really wanted to attend a festival in Goa. We sang almost all the way to Delhi and, by the end of this train trip, we managed to collect enough money to not just attend the festival but also spend a few extra days holidaying in Goa!” The actor jokes on how he isn’t as much as a bathroom singer as he is a train singer.

Incidentally, the recently released song from the film reminds one of Shammi Kapoor’s foot-tapping music from the ’60s. So did the duo take inspiration from the Elvis Presley of India? Ayushmann denies this saying that while shooting for the song got him nostalgic and reminded him of the late star, they did not prepare for it keeping Shammi in mind. “The peppy foot-tapping number reminded us all of the good old songs starring Shammiji. To all the people drawing parallels with the late actor’s songs and this one, we can never even think of coming close to perform like Shammi Kapoor — he was and is unmatchable,” Ayushmann concludes.
