New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma are among several celebrities who will be a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet 'Swachhta hi Seva' campaign, officials said on Thursday.

As prime minister's Clean India project completes three years, these celebrities have agreed to undertake 'shramdaan' (contribution of labour) and toilet construction.

Besides Tendulkar, cine stars Akshay and Anushka, Nita Ambani, wife of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, will also lead the cleanliness campaign in Mumbai, officials said.

As part of the campaign, government has also telecast 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' on Doordarshan.

Two personalities from Assam, singer Papon and actress Madhurima have also agreed to be associated with the 'Swachhta hi Seva' campaign.

Global Inter-faith WASH Alliance, founder Swami Chiddanand, will lead a cleanliness drive along the banks of the river Ganga in Rishikesh on September 25, official sources said.

To make 'Clean India' campaign a success, Prime Minister Modi has written to opinion makers across fields, including industry, sports and cinema, seeking their support to 'Swachhata Hi Seva' movement, saying it is the noblest service.
