Baadshaho’s na-Paak connection

Not long ago, Ajay Devgn issued a statement saying, “There is an exchange of bullets happening, and you are talking about exchange of culture? We cannot isolate ourselves from the nation.”

It was around the time when arch rival Karan Johar had cast Fawad Khan in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and was battling the right wing political parties. Karan was facing a lot of flak for his love for Pakistani actors even as India and Pakistan were not on good terms.

But now, Ajay’s forthcoming film Baadshaho directed by Milan Luthria, which is a fiction based during the Emergency is in trouble after using Raahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice in the song Mere Rashke Qamar.

The excuse that the makers are giving is that the song was originally sung by the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan around 30 years ago and hence it was only fair to get his successor and nephew Raahat to sing the song in the film.

Ajay’s departure from his earlier statement is rather contradictory considering he used patriotism as a tool earlier, but now he features in a song sung by a Pakistani artist. Ajay is seen walking across a ground, unmindful of the running horses during a polo match being played at the Jodhpur polo ground as he woos Ileana D’Cruz.

At the time of going to press, the makers had not responded to our query on why Raahat’s voice was used in the film.
