Mumbai: While there were reports doing the rounds that Kareena Kapoor Khan might have a cameo in husband Saif Ali Khan’s aptly titled ‘Chef’.

As the title suggests, Saif will be donning the hat of a chef. The movie is directed by ‘Airlift’ director Raja Krishna Menon.

Squashing the rumours of Kareena’s cameo in ‘Chef’, director Raja Krishna Menon told a portal, “Kareena does not have a cameo in the movie.”

However, the royal begum was seen in a brief but pivotal role in Nawab’s ‘Happy Ending.’

In an interview, Saif spilled the beans on the same portal about his film ‘Chef’.

He revealed, "It is a father-son story. It is about a husband and wife divorce-marriage story. It is about redemption and second chances. So it is quite a deep film."

Talking about his association with director Menon, Saif was in all praises for him. He said, “Raja Menon is one of the brightest and dedicated filmmakers I have worked with and he has got a different take on things. Not different but matured and sensitive take. He has made, well I hope one of the best films that I have been a part of. I am very lucky to have got him as a director at this stage after he did Airlift. It is a big hit. He could have done anything after this but the producers asked him to write this script. And when they asked him his first choice, he said Saif Ali Khan. That is a great compliment. I hope I have given him something to be proud of."

'Chef' is the remake of the 2014 American comedy of the same name which then starred Jon Favreau, Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.

The film is expected to release on July 14, and will clash with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's 'Jagga Jasoos' and also Shraddha Kapoor's 'Haseena'.
