Liqueur chocolates have been around for ages, and we’re sure you love your bar of Jack Daniel’s chocolate as much as us. But this chocolate and spirit combination sure took us by surprise. Nestle has announced new sake-flavoured KitKat in Japan!

Apparently, the Japanese are huge fans of the wafer finger chocolate, and they sure do love their sake, so it seemed like a bright idea to combine the two, and come up with a unique flavour. The sake-flavoured, milk chocolate KitKat has been made available in Japan since the beginning of this month.

The new launch is all about “chocolate with the mellow body and smooth aftertaste of sake” according to news sources in Japan. There has been a range of new flavours introduced in the island nation — including strawberry, purple sweet potato, pear, edamame, cinnamon cookie, matcha-green etc and a whole lot more — but the sake one sure seems to take the crown.

The package is embellished with sakura (cherry blossoms) and “evokes the traditional drinking of sake during hanami, the Japanese tradition of flower viewing”. The new flavour is currently being retailed for a little over $5. Now you know what to ask for when a friend’s popping over to Japan next!
