A 26-year-old manager was electrocuted on Sunday afternoon when he accidentally touched the plug of his laptop’s wire while trying to charge it at his home.

Newly-married deceased, identified as Brajesh from Bihar, had been living in his rented apartment in Tughlaqabad Extension for the last 12 years with his parents. He worked for an export house in Faridabad as an area manager.

“On Sunday, he was at home and was sleeping. When he woke up around 2.45 pm, he took out his laptop and tried to plug it in the socket while still lying on the bed. He was still dozing and didn’t know where his hand was moving when accidentally his fingers went into the socket along with the plug and touched one of the pins,” said Brajesh’s father.

Brajesh’s wife, who was the only other person present in the house, yanked off the wire from her husband’s hand seconds after the incident; however, by then it was too late.

“The incident happened around 2.45 pm, and by 3 pm, Brajesh was brought to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said a police officer.

A case under Section 174 of IPC has been registered at Govindpuri police station and investigation has been started. The police also seized the laptop which Brajesh was using at the time of his electrocution.
