In a classic case of digital empowerment and how celebrities are getting responsive to people’s concerns, Indian T20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Sunday assured that he would take up the matter of incomplete Amrapali Sapphire project with the management and said that “whatever is promised must be done.”

The Rs 10,000-crore Amrapali Group is a leading realty group with a number of residential and commercial projects to its credit across the country. Residents of Amrapali Sapphire had launched a Twitter campaign two days ago with the hashtag #AmrapaliMisuseDhoni which went viral with over 3 lakh impressions. Residents tweeted seamlessly tagging many celebrities, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and many senior journalists, some of whom stay in this flagship project, which was endorsed by Mr Dhoni in a series of advertisements.

“We are grateful to Dhoni for having responded to our concerns. It is a matter of great pride that Dhoni is also an owner of a penthouse in this society. We sincerely hope Amrapali management immediately takes up all the pending issues, including completion of pending civil, electrical, fire safety and plumbing work to make this a liveable society. Children and elderly especially are exposed to huge risks given the unmanned lifts and lack of any fire safety measures and this is a very serious concerns of over 800 families living here,” said Cdr R.K. Srivastava, a resident of Amrapali Sapphire.

Amrapali management on Friday had committed they would address all concerns of the residents and complete the pending work within 90 days.

The residents, meanwhile, said that they would continue with their social media campaign to ensure the issue remains alive.
