A day after it has been reported that the Centre has returned 14 bills of the Delhi government, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, claimed that none of these bills were returned by the Union home ministry. Mr Gupta said that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal misleading people on the issue with his “bundle of lies.”

Mr Gupta alleged that after being cornered in the water tanker scam, chief minister is making false allegations against the Union government.

“All bills are under consideration as the Delhi government did not follow the laid down procedure before forwarding these bills. The Delhi government must function according to the Constitution. Mr Kejriwal has no authority not to follow prescribed procedures. The Delhi government is behaving as if it is above the Constitution. In fact, the chief minister wanted to raise the salaries of the MLAs and the ministers by more than four times. He is upset that this bill has not been given assent so far and therefore is making false allegations against the Union home ministry,” said Mr Gupta.

According to Mr Gupta, the Delhi government has sent the bills without following laid down constitutional and statuary procedures, rules and regulations before forwarding these bills and that is the reason that these bills are pending.

“The Delhi government, by blaming the Union government in every matter, alleges that it does not allow them to function. The fact is that the AAP government has no interest in developmental work. It’s only aim is gain cheap popularity by misleading people. It’s intentions are not clear. If the government uses the money being wasted on misleading ads for rehabilitation of residents of JJ colonies, they can be provided pucca houses,” he said.
