A judicial officer, who had reportedly gone into depression after his suspension following a complaint by a woman employee, was admitted to a hospital as his condition deteriorated due to an overdose

A judicial officer, who had reportedly gone into depression after his suspension following a complaint by a woman employee, was admitted to a hospital as his condition deteriorated due to an overdose of sleeping pills, the police said on Friday.

The judicial officer, Pratap Singh Malik, is an additional district judge (ADJ) at the Dwarka court. He went into depression as he was suspended last week by the Delhi high court in connection to charges levelled on him by a female employee of Dwarka court.

A woman posted at the Dwarka court had made molestation allegations against Mr Malik, who lives with his wife and daughter at Karkardoom court complex.

The wife and daughter of the judicial officer also allegedly consumed sleeping pills but were safe as they vomited out the pills. A suicide note allegedly written by him was also recovered, sources said.

He was rushed to Dr Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan after his condition deteriorated on Thursday night where his condition was stated to be stable. It was learnt that he used to take sleeping pills due to stress and depression, the police said.

Doctors at the Hedgewar Hospital, where he was admitted on Thursday night, said his condition was stable.

“Information about the incident was received in the morning on Friday and we are yet to record a statement by Malik,” said a senior police officer.
