Ram Heth Meena, the father of 6-year-old Devansh Meena, who died after allegedly falling in the sewage tank of Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj on Thursday, said the police did not inform him

Ram Heth Meena, the father of 6-year-old Devansh Meena, who died after allegedly falling in the sewage tank of Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj on Thursday, said the police did not inform him about the arrests of five school employees, including its principal.

“I am sad as the Delhi police did not inform me about their arrests. More shocking to me is that they were all released on bail. For me, their arrest is just an eyewash to claim that the police is doing something. The police is in fact sheltering the accused,” he alleged.

Mr Meena said that he got to know about the arrests on TV news channels. He said that he had no faith in the investigations of the police and wanted the case to be transferred to the CBI. “I want a CBI probe into the matter. The police have hushed up the school’s foul play in their investigations,” he said.

Mr Meena, who also attended a candlelight march held outside the school to mourn the death of his son, said that if the police had to release them on bail why did they arrest them.

Meanwhile, a police source claimed that they were about to file chargesheet in connection with the matter within two weeks. The source said since the five people were booked under 304A IPC, a bailable offence, they were not taken to court and got bail from the police station itself. According to the police, the accused were identified as principal Sandhya Sabu (50), class teacher Minakshi Kapoor (38) and drinking water system operator Yogesh Kholiya (23), maintenance in-charge of the tank Puran Singh Bisht (65) and gardener Ram Narayan (44).

All five were arrested under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. They were arrested after thorough questioning of several employees and school management, said a police officer

On Saturday, Devansh Meena, a Class 1 student, was found dead in the reservoir under the ampitheatre of the school.

School authorities had told the police that the boy was last seen before the seventh period, which was around 12.20 pm. They later found him floating in the reservoir.
