AAP legislator Somnath Bharti, who is facing court trials in connection with an attempt to murder case lodged against him by his wife Lipika Mitra, on Saturday moved a plea before the court seeking the call detail record of separate numbers belonging to his wife and her family members.

The court of metropolitan magistrate Rajinder Singh allowed his move. Mr Bharti had requested the court to preserve the call detail record of a few numbers. “The call detail record of these numbers should be preserved form the time period of 19/03/2013 to 29/02/2016,” he requested. The court has allowed his move. The court directed the concerned investigation official to get the call details record of the numbers given by Mr Bharti and preserve it.

Meanwhile, Sonia Madan, who was appearing on behalf of three alleged accused Banne Singh, Kapil and Natha, who had allegedly helped Mr Bharti by providing his shelter, argued that her clients should be granted exemption from personal appearance. The court also allowed her move. “Upon court query, it is submitted by the investigation official that there is no specific purpose during the inquiry before the court, for which the regular personal appearance of the applicants is required. In view of the above, the accused are exempted,” the court, noted. The police had on last date of hearing said that they would send the dog of Bharti to ITBP and CISF for the behavioral test. However, the dog could not be sent for the behavioural test due to some reasons. The court has now fixed June 10 as the next date of hearing.

It has been alleged in the FIR that Bharti had allegedly unleashed his dog over his wife many a times. It has also been alleged in the FIR that Mr Bhartis’ dog had bitten his wife. In the chargesheet, the prosecution has alleged that Mr Bharti had tried to endanger the life of an unborn child which his wife was carrying by unleashing his dog on her.
