Lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung inaugurated smart classrooms, CCTVs and a library at a South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) primary school on Thursday.

Lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung inaugurated smart classrooms, CCTVs and a library at a South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) primary school on Thursday. Mr Jung said that the process of learning in the school will go a long way in nurturing the future of the students and making them good citizens of the country.

Sharing his experience during his stay in Britain, where his kids were studying in a government school which were as good as well-known public schools, Mr Jung said that the school has been reflecting the same learning atmosphere which is found to be prevalent in well established prestigious public schools.

While complimenting the efforts of the SDMC in giving shape to the school quality enhancement programme, Mr Jung said that maintaining standards is a challenge though establishing and running an educational institution is not so difficult. “The systems and standards must either remain same or be improved despite changes in the organisation,” he added.

“Imparting knowledge of ABC will not help in overall development of the students. The teachers have a major responsibility for instilling the essence of good behaviour, moral values, and patriotism in students by their own decent behaviour and habits. The success of education will be termed relevant if the passed out students possess adequate sensitivity apart from zeal for work, religion, caste, economic situation, and regional considerations. This will go a long way in upgrading the honour of the country,” said Mr Jung.

According South Delhi Municipal Corporation commissioner P.K. Goel, the transformation in the school has been possible with the joint, untiring efforts of the corporation and an NGO.
