A six-month-old infant was found after she went missing from Bara Hindu Rao Hospital on Saturday.

A six-month-old infant was found after she went missing from Bara Hindu Rao Hospital on Saturday. After missing for eight hours, the baby girl, identified as Atifa, was found on an e-rickshaw in north Delhi’s Model Town area.

According to police, the child’s mother claimed she was in the hospital and had given her infant to another woman as she had to stand in a queue to give her blood sample for a test. When she returned, she found the lady was missing along with the child. Thereafter, the mother informed her family members who reached the hospital and reported the matter to the police.

“I was standing in a queue with my child to give blood sample for a test. A nurse asked me to hand over the child to any of the ladies sitting on the benches... When I came back, I found that the lady and my child were missing,” said Rehana, the mother of the infant.

The police said that the family members of the missing child staged protest at the hospital. “We have approached the family members and assured them of thorough probe into the matter,” said a senior police official.

Meanwhile, a PCR call was received on Saturday evening about a child found in an abandoned e-rickshaw in the Model Town area. Police team reached the spot and took the child with them. The infant was handed over to the family after they identified her as their daughter, the police said.
