A 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after his wife refused to return from her paternal house.

A 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after his wife refused to return from her paternal house. Joginder, a painter, had a scuffle with his wife four days ago following which she left for her parents’ house and refused to return, the police said. He went into deep depression and he committed suicide on friday by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Siyani Gate residence here, the victim’s father told the police. The body was recovered this morning and sent for postmortem, the officer said. Meanwhile, two members of an auto-lifter gang active in Delhi-NCR were arrested and four stolen motorcycles recovered from them, the police said. Ajay Kumar and Ankit were arrested in Sahibabad on Friday night. A police team stopped the duo riding on a motorcycle, but they tried to flee. The patrol team chased and arrested them, a police officer said.

An alleged drug trafficker has been arrested along with 500 gram of heroin worth `50 lakhs in the international market. Rehmat Alam, 44, was arrested by the narcotics cell of the Delhi police’s crime branch on Friday after a tip off. An input was received in Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch that a man living in JJ Colony, Bawana, would come near Hanuman Mandir Nahar, Bawana, to deliver a consignment to a receiver. A trap was laid and he was arrested. “He was identified as Rehmat. During search, 500 grams of fine-quality heroin was recovered from him,” said additional commissioner of police (crime) Ravindra Yadav. Rehmat revealed that he was a drug addict and had undergone rehabilitation treatment. Thereafter, he started selling drugs to earn money, the police said.
