Man booked for threats to girl over pics and video

A case has been registered against a man for allegedly blackmailing a 19-year-old girl over an objectionable video he shot of her and demanding money from her, the police said here on Wednesday.

According to the police, about a month ago, the victim had gone to stay over at her neighbour Gitu’s house for a night, as she was alone at her house.

As the girl arrived at Gitu’s place, she offered her a spiked drink following which she fell asleep, they said.

Next morning, when the girl woke up, Gitu’s brother-in-law, Pravesh, told her that he had taken some of her objectionable photographs and also shot a video, the police said.

“Pravesh started blackmailing her, saying that she will have to marry him. But till then, she should bring money and jewellery from her house, failing which he will upload her pictures and video on the Internet. The girl gave him the money,” they said, adding that when she was fed up with the blackmailing, she approached the police.

On Tuesday, the victim filed a complaint with the police, following which a case was registered against the accused and investigation is on.
