The British School in Chanakyapuri’s diplomatic area here was put under an hour-long “precautionary lockdown” on Friday after it received an Internet-generated call asking for the principal, eight days after a similar call had warned of an attack with an AK-47 rifle.
The school reception received a call around 12.25 pm and the number of the caller did not fla-sh, suggesting it was an Internet-generated call. The caller asked for the principal, but the staff disconnected the call and raised an alarm, a police official said.
The authorities put the school under a lockdown and called up the police saying they suspected this to be a repetition of the February 4 incident, following which a police team was sent to inspect the matter, he added.
Director of the school Vanita Uppal said, “We informed the police and the school was put under precautionary lockdo-wn. When things were found to be normal, the classes continued as per schedule.”
In the previous incident, students were moved out in a safe and controlled manner and after-school activities were cancelled. However, the caller could not be tracked down.
