HC: Probe if gangs behind missing kids

The Delhi high court on Wednesday directed the Delhi police to find out if organised gangs were behind the incidents of children going missing in the city and sought an action taken report within eight weeks.
Issuing a slew of directions, a division bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan said “police shall investigate into the existence of different gangs and action should be taken against them”.
The court directed police to probe if the children were kidnapped for trafficking and to prepare a data study as to how the children from neighbouring states were able to come to the city.
The bench directed that detail information be given to DLSA about 489 children who have gone missing since November 2009 and not yet traced so it could provide legal assistance to the parents.
